Obituary

Alice E. Beltz, age 95, of Bloomsburg, passed away early Saturday morning, November 11, 2023, in the comfort of her home.

She was born on Friday, October 5, 1928 in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late William O., Jr. and Mary C. (O'Neill) Eisenhauer. Alice graduated from the Bloomsburg High School Class of 1946, second in her class. On December 21, 1974, Alice married her loving husband, Charles R. Beltz. Alice was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church, Bloomsburg and was formerly a member of the Bell Telephone Pioneers of America, Women's International Bowling Congress, and The Pennsylvania State Women's Bowling Association.

Her dream was to attend college to pursue a degree and become a physical education teacher. Being the third of four daughters, her parents were unable to send her to college since her older sister was pursuing a nursing degree. Once she graduated high school and realized that she was unable to go to college, she began her long career at the Bell Telephone Company of Pennsylvania, hired as a telephone operator. During these early years of her employment, she selflessly helped her first husband in their family business, Bauman's Tavern, Bloomsburg. Within just a couple years at the telephone company, she was promoted into management as Chief Operator, which she held for most of her career. When Bell of Pennsylvania became Bell Atlantic in 1984, Alice moved from her Chief Operator position to another management position as a Foreman in the Plant Department until her retirement in 1986.

Family was the most important part of Alice's life. After the death of her first husband, in 1968 she built a new double home, where she and her daughter lived on one side and provided her parents a home on the other side for the rest of their lives.

Alice was always a huge sports fan. In the 1960's she traveled throughout the country with her daughter for her competitive roller-skating championships. Alice loved Penn State football and she and Charlie had season tickets from 1975 through 2011. They attended nearly all home and away games, including most of the bowl games all over the country throughout all those years, either in their motorhome or on Penn State tours, which they enjoyed with many dear friends. They also loved Bloomsburg University Men's Basketball during the Charlie Chronister years and were supporters of Bloomsburg University Women's Softball during the Jan Hutchinson years, where they loved to watch the team at spring break every year in Florida.

Alice was an active member of women's bowling teams from the early 1960's through 1990's, bowling weekly on leagues at the Bloomsburg Moose and Bloomsburg Elks, sponsored by Marie's Dress Shop for many years. She enjoyed bowling in the PA State Bowling Tournament with her team each year for well over 20 years. Alice was always a fan of the Bloomsburg High School football team and also loved Central Columbia sports, especially one of her favorite sports, girls' varsity softball where her granddaughter played. She always supported her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's sports throughout the years attending endless little league, traveling team softball and baseball games, high school games, and most recently attended her great-grandson's college baseball games at Bowman Field in 2021 and 2022. Alice loved the beach and from 1990 until 2012, she and her husband enjoyed spending the winters in FL in their motorhome.

In addition to her parents, Alice was also preceded in death by her first husband; Charles W. Bauman on March 29, 1967, two sisters; Ruth Moodie and Lucy Fanelli, a sister-in-law; Betty Marr, and brothers-in-law; Robert McEwen and Jack Fanelli.

Rhone and her husband Richard of Bloomsburg, a step son; Richard Beltz his wife Kathy and family of Fredericksburg, VA, a step daughter; Barbara Mensinger her husband Clair and family of Thomasville, PA, two granddaughters; Carey Anne Smith and her husband Kevin, Courtney Allyce LoPiccolo and her husband Vincenzo, five great-grandchildren; Kolten Dale Smith, Kylee Allyce Smith, Keira Marie Smith, Calogero LoPiccolo, Vincenzo LoPiccolo, a sister; Dorothy Buck of Bloomsburg, three nieces; Anita Fanelli, Eileen Patterson and her husband Richard, Darlene Beaver and her husband Robert, three nephews; Rodney Faux and his wife Tammy, Robert Faux and his wife Jeanette, Richard Faux and his wife Gloria, and a sister-in-law; Ann Louise Glodfelter.
