Alexander Thornhill Barra, age 35, of Bloomsburg, passed away on Monday, April 7, 2025, a patient of the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Alexander was a resident of Bloomsburg for over 18 years.
He was born on Monday, May 15, 1989 in Livingston, NJ, son of John Barra and Debra Thornhill. He graduated from the Pius X High School, Bangor, PA in 2007. Alexander expanded his education by attending Bloomsburg University and graduating with a bachelor's degree in finance. For several years, he was employed by Geisinger in the Revenue Management Department. Alexander was a member of the Bloomsburg Christian Church. He was the head coach for the Bloomsburg Youth Football and Baseball teams. Alexander enjoyed spending his time practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, earning a black belt, and was a supporter of Bloomsburg High School Wrestling.
Survivors include his beloved parents: John Anthony Barra of Glen Cove, NY, and Debra Ellen Thornhill of Bloomsburg; his son: Anthony Thomas Barra of Bloomsburg; four siblings: Joseph Lawrence Barra of Bloomsburg, Alison Kathryn Barra of Bushkill, John Kenneth Barra of Havelock, NC, and Jack Barra of Glen Cove, NY, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Bloomsburg Christian Church, 107 Deussen Drive, Bloomsburg. Friends and family will also be received on Saturday, April 12, 2025 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Bloomsburg Christian Church.
Funeral Services will begin on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Bloomsburg Christian Church with Eric Miller, Lead Minister, officiating. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Barra and Thornhill families.
