Alexander J. "Al" Cavallini, age 91, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother died peacefully on Friday, November 10, 2023. He was born on Tuesday, January 19, 1932 in Berwick, a son of the late Delphin and Margaret (Potocnak) Cavallini.
Al attended the Berwick Area High School and served his country during the Korean War in the 109th Infantry Division of the Army from 1950-1953. On October 7, 1974, Al married his loving wife, the former Doris A. Funk. He enjoyed serving his church and community; he did this by serving as a former Hemlock Township Zoning Officer, and as a member of the American Legion Post #273, Bloomsburg. He was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church and The Bloomsburg Food Cupboard. For over 25 years, Al was employed by Danville State Hospital as an electrician until his retirement in 1995. He enjoyed spending his time with family and watching the Berwick football team.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 49 years, Doris A. Cavallini of Bloomsburg, two sons; Alex B. Cavallini and wife Heather of Millville, Christopher A. Cavallini and wife Krissy of Bloomsburg, three daughters; Alessandra Cavallini of Berwick, Marialana Lenhart of Bloomsburg, and Ava Maria D'Alexander of Bloomsburg, seven grandchildren; Angela D'Alexander-Scott, Damian D'Alexander, John Lenhart, Emma Cavallini, Isabella Cavallini, Luca Cavallini, Charlotte Cavallini, a great granddaughter, Lena Scott, a great grandson, Alix Scott, two sisters, Gloria Kopp of Catawissa, and Mary Lou Cavallini of Florida.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin on Friday, November 17, 2023 at 10:00 am at St. Columba Catholic Church, 342 Iron St., Bloomsburg with Rev. Richard J. Mowery, celebrant. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Berwick with military honors provided by the combined V.F.W. and American Legion Honor Guard. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Cavallini family.
