Albert "Al" Wagner passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday morning, February 18, 2025. He was born on May 24, 1951, in Bloomsburg, and was raised on the family farm by his grandparents, Cleatus and Erma Wagner, where he and his wife continued to reside.
Al is survived by his beloved wife, Mary (Rishe) Wagner, and their three children: Eric (married to Melony Merson) of Baltimore, MD; Angela Wagner of Bloomsburg,; and Brooke Wagner of Baltimore, MD. He also leaves behind three cherished grandchildren: Farah, Dallas, and Colton Wagner. He is survived by his sisters, Sharlet Johnson (Marshall), Mary Campbell (Steve), and Betty Gallagher (Pat), as well as many nieces and nephews.
A proud graduate of Central Columbia High School, Al served in the 814th US Army Reserves from 1971 to 1976. He dedicated 29 years to serving as a police officer for the Bloomsburg Town Police Department, including 15 years as a detective on the Columbia County Drug Task Force. Al was a proud member of the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP). He was a 39-year member of the Bloomsburg American Legion Post 273 where he served as Vice Commander. He was also an active member of the Bloomsburg Elks Lodge 436 and the VFW Post 804.
Al enjoyed hunting, golfing, sports, and coaching his children. He loved watching his grandchildren's activities and was known for his sociable nature and quick wit, always ready with a joke.
Private Services will be held at the convenience of the family. A Public Celebration of Life will take place at the Bloomsburg American Legion Post 273, 110 Juniper St., Bloomsburg on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 1:00 PM, for family and friends.
