Alan A. "Alex" Mead, age 42, of Bloomsburg, died on Monday morning, July 14, 2014, a patient of Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Alex was born on Tuesday, December 7, 1971 in Utica, New York, a son of Rev. Alan C. Mead and Patricia (Willmot) Mead of Virginia Beach, VA. Throughout his younger years, Alex attended and later graduated from the St. Andrew's High School in Barrington, Rhode Island. After moving to the Bloomsburg area over 18 years ago, Alex was employed for many years throughout the valley. For the past ten years, Alex was employed as an Extruder Operator for KYDEX, LLC in South Centre Township. Alex was also a member of the Christ Episcopal Church in Berwick. Alex loved spending his time searching for unique items at the local flea markets, and collected many vinyl records throughout the years. His friends and family will also remember his love of his favorite baseball team, the Boston Red Sox.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his four children: Cody W. Mead of Newport, RI; Wilder C. Mead, Riley M. Mead, Maeve E. Mead all of Bloomsburg; and a sister: Ariana W. Mead-Eastty and husband, David, of Virginia Beach, VA.
A Memorial Eucharist will be held on Thursday morning, June 17 at 11 a.m. in the St. Paul's Episcopal Church, E. Main and Iron Streets in Bloomsburg with Rev. David S. Bateman, officiating. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Mead family.
