Adelaide Wiist , age 71, of Bloomsburg, died on Tuesday, December 13, 2016, at home surrounded by her family. Adelaide was a resident of her home in Bloomsburg for over 23 years.
Adelaide was born on Monday, February 19, 1945 in Gary, Indiana, a daughter of Catalina (Rameriz) Martinez and the late Antonio Martinez . Throughout her younger years, Adelaide attended Gary area schools, and later graduated from High School in Gary, Indiana. Adelaide expanded her education by attending Ball State University, Muncie, IN earning a Bachelors Degree and later graduated from Indiana State University in Terre Haute with a Master's Degree in Home Economics.
On December 27, 1969, Adelaide married her loving husband, Stephen R. Wiist. For many years, Adelaide was employed by Bloomsburg University Book Store where she had worked up until last Sunday.
Adelaide enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, taking care of her dogs (Tiberius and Sienna) and cats (Eskimo Earl, Brilla, Pumpkin and Mr. Doodles), and taking vacations to Disney World.
Survivors in addition to her mother, include her beloved husband Stephen R. Wiist ; daughter, Catherine M. Wiist of Bloomsburg and sons: Stephen W. Wiist of Cary, NC and Andrew A. Wiist of Mechanicsburg, PA; and sister: Carmen Martinez of Essen, Germany.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Indiana. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Wiist family.
