William F. Long, age 85, of Danville, died on Friday, May 15, 2020, at his home. William was a resident of his home in Montour Township for over 52 years. William was born on Monday, April 15, 1935 in Bloomsburg, a son of the late Carl J. and Ethel (Belles) Long. On June 15, 1968, William married his loving wife, the former Betty J.Girton. He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged with the rank of Specialist 4th Class. For over many years, William was employed by Hanover Brands and Schwin Recycling until his retirement. He also served with the Boy Scouts. William enjoyed spending his time camping, building wooden replicas of old wagons and leather work. In addition to his parents, William was also preceded by stepson, Samuel W. Bordner; grandsons, Evan Long and Timothy Long; siblings: Daniel Long, Tex Long, Leo Long, Harry Long, Harold Long, and Brik Long. Survivors include his beloved wife of 52 years, Betty J. (Girton) Long, children: William E. Long and wife, Sue, of Fleetwood, PA, Randy Long and wife, Donna, of Berwick, Glenn Long and wife, Diane, of Riverside, Mark Long and wife, Lori, of Berwick, Mary Sue Jones and husband, Smoke, of Watsontown, 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; siblings: Joyce Sherman and husband, Greg, of Rhorsburg, Paul Long and wife, Sandra, of Stillwater, Clark Long and wife, Linda, of Bloomsburg, Helen McMurtie and husband, David, of Berwick, and Beverly Banghart of Albany, TX. A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, May 20, from 10 to 11 am at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc, 745 Market at Eighth St., Bloomsburg. Funeral Services will begin at 11 am with Eric Miller, Lead Minister of Bloomsburg Christian Church, officiating. Graveside committal services with Military Honors will immediately follow in Elan Memorial Park. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Long family.
