William E. Lewis

March 19, 1937 - April 23, 2021

William E. Lewis, age 84, of Eyers Grove, died on Friday, April 23, 2021, at his home. He was born on Friday, March 19, 1937 in Danville, a son of the late Earl and Margaret Lewis. Throughout his younger years, William attended the Danville area schools, and later graduated from the Danville High School. Following high school, he faithfully served his country and was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps. For over 15 years, William was employed by Girton Manufacturing until his retirement in 1999. William was a member of the NRA, North American Hunting Club and the former Bloomsburg Moose. William enjoyed spending his time hunting and fishing. Due to his faithful daily walks in Eyers Grove, he became known as "The Mayor". In addition to his parents and wife, Mary (Galea) Lewis who died April 15, 1988, William was also preceded in death by a son, David Drew Lewis in infancy. Survivors include his son: Andrew W. Lewis of Millville and daughter: Theresa Smith of Florida; five grandchildren: Rita Marie Morrow of Montoursville, Misty Fuller of Louisiana, Sarah Godfrey of Williamsport, William L. Hess of Danville, and Kenny Wm. Davis of Florida; a great granddaughter and a step brother, Peter Lewis of Danville. Funeral services will begin on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at 10:00 am at the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Danville, with retired Air Force Chaplain, Rev. Gregory Moore, officiating. A combined group of American Legion and VFW veterans will conduct military honors. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc.,107 West Main at Railroad Streets, Millville is honored to be serving the Lewis family.
