Mildred "Millie" Mapston James

Mildred "Millie" (Rossi) Mapston James, age 74, of Bloomsburg, was lifted into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Thursday morning, November 17, 2016, surrounded by her family and under the care of Columbia Montour Hospice. Millie was a resident of her home in Mt. Pleasant Twp. for over 32 years. Millie had a wonderful full life of family and friends. She had a rare gift of making special and lasting friendships and she had connections with co workers, customers and many people that she met through her life. Her giving spirit touched many lives. She will be deeply missed. Millie was born on Saturday, April 4, 1942 at home in Mt. Scenery, PA, a daughter of the late Louis Dominic and Mary Leona (Luchi) Rossi. She was raised in Drums and attended Butler Twp. School until 1952 when the family's home was destroyed by fire. The family then moved to 828 West 7th St. Hazleton. Millie then attended and later graduated from the Hazleton High School in 1959. On April 28, 1984, Millie married her husband, Harry B. James. Millie was a case worker for Montour County Children, Youth & Families, a manager at BonTon at Columbia Mall and a hostess at Cracker Barrel in Buckhorn. Millie was a member of the Eyers Grove United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Starr, Chapter #279, Bloomsburg where she held numerous offices the last being Grand Representative of Kentucky in Pennsylvania. In addition to her parents, Millie was also preceded by brother, Louis Rossi, step daughter, Ruth Ketterer, and step grandson, Jack Lee. Survivors include her husband of 32 years, Harry B.James; two daughters: Valerie I. Young and husband, Stanley of Danville and Brenda L.Ward and husband, Rod, of Cliffwood, NJ; two step daughters: Linda Lee and husband, Butch, and Amy James both of Danville; three grandchildren: Timothy Raup and companion, Desiree, Benjamin Raup and wife, Amy, Laura Anspach and husband, Nick; seven step grandchildren: Kenyon Gottshall, Christy Ferguson, Julie Lark, Brian Ward, Lindsay Ward, Brody Lee, and Elda James; seven great grandchildren: Cameron Raup, Colby Raup, Troy Raup, Connor Raup, James Brown, Tyler Brown, and McKenna Lee; and three siblings: Bernadine Faust of Drums, Leonard Rossi and wife, Jan, of Conyngham, and John Rossi of Hazleton. The Order of Eastern Star will conduct a memorial service on Monday, November 21, 2015 at 10:45 at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth St., Bloomsburg. Funeral Services will immediately follow at 11 am. with her pastor, Rev. Leslie Halchak, officiating. Graveside committal services will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Danville. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the James family.
