Madeline Mae Slavinsky

May 24, 1933 - November 18, 2016

Madeline Mae Slavinsky , age 83, of Bloomsburg, died on Friday, November 18, 2016, a patient of the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Madeline was a resident of her home in Bloomsburg for over 3 years. Formerly she resided in Hawley, PA for 17 years and Honesdale, PA for 42 years. Madeline was born on Wednesday, May 24, 1933 in Wilkes Barre, PA, a daughter of the late John and Anna (Hurray) Decker. Madeline attended and later graduated from the Coughlin High School of Wilkes Barre in 1950. Madeline was a member of the St. Luke Lutheran Church, Bloomsburg. She enjoyed spending her time sewing, quilting, painting, golfing, and reading. On June 13, 1953, Madeline married her loving husband, Francis Slavinsky who died November 11. In addition to her parents, Madeline was also preceded by a brother, John "Jack" Decker. She was the last member of her immediate family. Survivors include three children: Gary F. Slavinsky of Baltimore, MD, Jody A (Chris) Stamatedes of Bloomsburg, PA, and Judy S. (Salvatore) Caruso of Bethpage, NY, grandchildren: Ben Caruso, Isabella Caruso, and Derek Stamatedes. Joint services for Madeline and Francis will be held. A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, December 9, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth St. Bloomsburg. Funeral Services will begin on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 10:00 am at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 9 St. Luke's Way, Bloomsburg with her pastor, Rev. John Fenton, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in the SS. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Cemetery, Plymouth, PA. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Slavinsky family.
