Donald W. "Wally" Evans Sr.

May 27, 1940 - January 24, 2019

Donald W. "Wally" Evans, Sr., age 78, of Bloomsburg, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, January 24, 2019. Wally was a resident of his home in Bloomsburg for over 46 years. He was born on Monday, May 27, 1940 in Bloomsburg, a son of the late Virginia (Evans) Hippenstiel. On October 15, 1960, Wally married his loving wife, the former Betty M. Harner. Wally was a self employed auto mechanic for most of his life. He was a former social member of the Bloomsburg V.F.W. Post 804. Wally was an avid car enthusiast, he loved watching NASCAR, and was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan. In addition to his mother, Wally was also preceded by a brother, Ernest Hippenstiel, and a sister in law, Dolly Hippenstiel. Survivors include his beloved wife of 58 years, Betty M. Evans, at home; five children, Donald W. "Sam" Evans, Jr. of Bloomsburg, John D. Evans and wife Joyce of Bloomsburg, Chris L. Metzger of Bloomsburg, Barry L. Evans and wife Sharon of Catawissa, and Stephanie A. Evans and partner Robin Stone of Berwick, seven grandchildren; T.J. Metzger and partner Stacy, Jeremy Evans and wife Jennifer, Samuel Evans and wife Amanda, Ashley wife of Jacob Hiller, Adriene wife of John Bacon, Brittany wife of Aaron Farnsworth, and Hailey Stone, seven great grandchildren; seven sisters, Dot wife of Dennis Beck of Berwick, Lynn Heller of Bernsville, Hazel wife of Joe Harvey of Bloomsburg, Ruth wife of Louie Butz of Millville, Mary wife of Jerry Brokenshire of Benton, Clara wife of Randy Ruckle of Orangeville, and Sally wife of Larry Smith of Millville, three brothers, Carl Hippenstiel and wife Ty of Orangeville, Boyd Hippenstiel and wife Ann of Bloomsburg, and Huey Hippenstiel and wife Theresa of Bloomsburg, a sister in law, Laura wife of Dale Evert of Bloomsburg, and a brother in law, Ralph Harner and wife Diane of Danville. Donald also leaves behind his furry four legged girl, Lucy. A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, January 28, 2019 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Streets, Bloomsburg. Funeral Services will begin on Monday, January 28, 2019 at 11:00 am at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. with Rev. John D. Kolenda, pastor of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church, officiating.
