Mildred J. Lunger, age 84, of Lunger Drive, Bloomsburg, passed away Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at her home. She had been in failing health since June.
Born on December 2, 1925 in Blandon, Berks County, PA she was a daughter of the late Leon and Pearl Reinert Burket. She was a graduate of the former South Centre High School. Mrs. Lunger has resided in Hemlock Township for the past 54 years.
Prior to retiring she was the bookkeeper for the family business, Lunger's Buckhorn Amoco.
She previously worked at Milco Industries, Bloomsburg as a seamstress for over 20 years.
Mildred was a very active member of Christ Lutheran Church, Buckhorn where she had held many offices, served on the Council and taught Sunday School. She loved books and reading and volunteered at the Bloomsburg Public Library, reading to the children. She most especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Gerald J. Lunger on February 28, 2004; a grandson, Scott David Fenstermacher on July 20, 2010 and great granddaughter, Katie Lunger.
Surviving is her son, David G. Lunger and his wife Mary, Bloomsburg; her daughter, Susan Fenstermacher, Norfolk, VA; grandsons, Michael, Brian, Jason and Daniel Lunger and Jaime Fenstermacher; great grandchildren, Tyler, David, Jonathan, Andrew, Ben, Mason and Alyssa Lunger; and her sister, Barbara Ann Fish and her husband Loren, Orangeville; numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 28 at 11 a.m. in Christ Lutheran Church, 70 Buckhorn Road, Buckhorn with The Rev. Thomas E. Light Jr., her pastor, officiating. Interment will be private.
Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10 – 11 a.m.
