Harry R. Faux

Harry R. Faux, age 87, of Old Berwick Road, Bloomsburg, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2011 in the Emergency Room of the Bloomsburg Hospital. He was a resident of Scott Twp. since July 1980. Harry was born in Danville a son of the late Harry and Elsie M. (Ross) Faux. He was a 1941 graduate of the Bloomsburg High School. He was an employee of Magee Carpet Co. for 22 ½ years and was Chief Clerk of Columbia County for 16 years, retiring December 31, 1991. He served as a Supervisor of Scott Twp. for 13 ½ years. While in County Government, Mr. Faux served as a trustee of Pennsylvania Local Government Investment Trust for 8 years, representing all counties in Pennsylvania. Additionally he served as a member of the Executive Board of Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors for 1 ½ years. During his early years, Harry was the lead tenor of the Susquehanna Synchronizers, a Susquehanna Valley Barbershop Quartet. As a 73 year member of the Wesley United Methodist church, Mr. Faux taught Sunday school for more than 40 years and served on numerous church boards and committees. He was a life member of the former Rescue Hose Co. and the Firemen’s Relief Association. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Patsy A. (Kline) Faux; five children: Richard W. Faux and wife, Gloria, of Bloomsburg, Robert C. Faux of Fairborn OH, Rodney C. Faux and wife, Tammy, of Kathleen GA, Eileen F. Patterson and husband, Richard, of Mechanicsburg and Darlene R. Beaver and husband, Robert, of Bloomsburg; a step-son: Jeffrey A. Kline of Bloomsburg, 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Harry was the last member of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Donald Faux, John Faux and William Faux. Friends will be received at the Wesley United Methodist Church, Market at Third Street, on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. Please use Third Street entrance. Funeral services will follow in the church sanctuary at 11 a.m. with his pastor, Rev. Jay E. Jones, officiating. Burial will be in Creveling Cemetery. Memorial Contributions are suggested to Wesley United Methodist Memorial Fund, 130 West Third Street.
