Donald P. Gaughan

Donald P. Gaughan, age 83, a resident of Bloomsburg for 25 years, died on Wednesday evening, May 6, 2015 a patient of the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Donald was born on Friday, April 15, 1932 in Mount Carmel, a son of the late Joseph and Esther (Dropesky) Gaughan. Throughout his younger years, Donald attended the Centralia area schools, and graduated from the Con-Cen High School in 1950. Immediately following his education, Donald enlisted with the United States Marine Corps until honorable discharge on April 30, 1952. After returning home, Donald married his loving wife, the former Ann Marie Doolan, on May 23, 1953. Shortly after returning home from the service, Donald was employed by Warner Concrete in Morrisville as a heavy equipment operator. Donald also became the owner and operator of the former Donnie Gaughan’s Pub in Levittown, and Donald was employed by Warner Concrete in Morrisville as a heavy equipment operator the former Soup and Stuff located in Catawissa. Donald was a member of the St. Columba Catholic Parish in Bloomsburg where he served as Eucharist Minister and a member of the Legion of Mary. Donald was also a member of the Centralia American Legion Post #608 for many years. Survivors include his beloved wife of almost 61 years, Ann Marie (Doolan) Gaughan, of Bloomsburg; six children: Joseph Gaughan and wife, Susan, of Catawissa; Daniel Gaughan and wife, Karen, of Bethlehem, GA; Coleen Hulse and companion, Dean Bigelow, of Catawissa; Joleen Legett and husband, Thomas, of Suwanee, GA; Donald Gaughan and companion, Jeanette Getgen, of Catawissa; and Eileen Cizewski and husband, Stanley, of Bloomsburg; eighteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday morning, May 11 from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the St. Columba Catholic Church, 342 Iron and Third Streets in Bloomsburg. A Mass of Christian burial will also begin on Monday morning, May 11 at 11 a.m. at the St. Columba Catholic Church in Bloomsburg with Monsignor Robert E. Lawrence, celebrant. Graveside committal services, with full Military honor to be accorded by the Centralia American Legion Post #608, will immediately follow in the New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy. The Gaughan family respectfully requests that everyone in attendance to refrain from wearing any type of perfume or cologne out of consideration and respect of chemically sensitive family members.
