Dale M. Stiner

Dale M. Stiner, age 85, of Bloomsburg, died on Friday morning, August 7, 2015 at his home surrounded by family and under the care of Geisinger Columbia Montour Hospice. He was a resident of Madison Township for 63 years. Dale was born on Saturday, November 23, 1929 in Center Township, a son of the late Arthur and Elva (Strausser) Stiner. Throughout his younger years, he attended the North Center Schools where he completed 10th grade and later graduated from the Bloomsburg High School in 1948. Dale married his high school sweet heart, the former Joanne K. Nichols, of Bloomsburg on January 20, 1951. He and his wife were devoted members of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Millville for many years, until health would not allow them to attend. Dale was proud to be a charter member of the Dizzy Dozen Hunting Club of Shunk. As a heavy equipment operator, Dale was employed by the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 542. For over 35 years he worked for Clair C. Hock Construction and his last 8 years were with Geupel Construction. During his early years he operated the family farm and also did timbering and logging. In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Joanne K. (Nichols) Stiner, who passed on May 27, 2015. Dale was also preceded by two granddaughters: Rebecca Stiner in 1989 and Amy Stiner in 2013; a sister: Rhoda Bartholomew in 1997 and a nephew: Dale Bartholomew in 2006. Survivors include three children: Deborah Bowman and husband, Martin, of Bloomsburg; Dale M. Stiner II and wife, Melissa, of Millville; and David A. Stiner and wife, Catherine, of Benton; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday evening, August 11, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 107 W. Main at Railroad Street in Millville. Funeral services will begin on Wednesday morning, August 12 at 10 a.m. at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1314 State Route 254 in Millville with his pastor, Rev. Timothy Valiente, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in the Jerseytown Cemetery. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., Millville is honored to be serving the Stiner family.
