Charles A. Creasy's Obituary

Charles A. Creasy, age 72, of Frosty Valley Road, Danville, died Saturday, August 13, at his home. He had been in failing health since July 1. He was a resident of his Hemlock Township home for 14 years and formerly lived in Millertown.
Charlie was born August 19, 1938 in Bloomsburg a son of the late Ralph W. Creasy Jr. and Marjorie J. (Gehringer) Creasy. He was a graduate of the Bloomsburg High School, class of 1956. While in high school, he played basketball under the late Frank Golder and was awarded the High Score Average in the 1956 Susquehanna Valley League. He also was on the high school baseball and football teams. He played multiple sports in the summer and winter leagues: Jerseytown Baseball Team, Harry's Traveler (basketball) and bowling leagues.
Charlie attended Bloomsburg State Teachers college and was employed by the Magee Carpet Co. in his early adult life for 19 years. He also served in the U.S. Army Reserve during the Vietnam War era and received an honorable discharge in 1966. Later, he attended the Pennsylvania State Police Academy and was an officer for 20 years.
Locally, Charlie was a PIAA Baseball and Softball Umpire in the high school and summer adult leagues and was proud of never having had to "throw any player or coach" out of a game in the 38 years of being an umpire.
He enjoyed a 49 year marriage with his wife, Marianne Ruth (Thomas) Creasy. Left behind are three children: Wayne A. Creasy and wife, Lisa, of Danville; Betsy L Johnson of State College and Lesla B. Orsino and husband, James, of New Jersey; seven grandchildren, Alexandra Creasy, Adam Creasy, Travis Johnson, Kayla Johnson, Dillen Orsino, Jessica Orsino and Christopher Orsino. Also surviving is a sister: Margaret (Peggy) Holdren and husband, Ronald "Buck" of Danville and a brother: Leroy P. Creasy and wife, Deborah, of Espy.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, August 17, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth St. in Bloomsburg. Funeral Services will begin on Wednesday at 7 pm with Rev. Allen F. Acor officiating.
