Beatrice L. (Ledyard) Neff , age 95, of Millville, died on Friday, April 22, 2016, a patient of the Signature Health Care of Bloomsburg. Beatrice was a resident of Millville for many years.
Beatrice was born on Tuesday, January 18, 1921 in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late Harold and Velma (Vansickle) Ledyard. Beatrice graduated from the Bloomsburg High School in 1938. Beatrice was employed by Smith Corona Marchant of Syracuse NY for over 20 years as an Accountant Secretary until her retirement in 1986. During her younger years, she was a waitress in Bloomsburg for many years and with her husband, owned and operated Neff's Diner in Allentown.
Beatrice was a member of the Mill Green United Methodist Church, Millville. She was also a member of the Bloomsburg Hospital Auxiliary, Millville Civic Club, was a Red Cross Bloodmobile and Columbia Montour Home Health and Hospice Volunteer. Beatrice enjoyed bowling for many years, doing cross word puzzles every morning and playing cards, especially bridge and pinochle. Most of all she loved playing games with her family, where she created special memories, especially with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Beatrice was preceded her husband, Donald C. Mercer in 1961 and by a sister, Ruth Gombar.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra E. Strauser and husband, Dale. of Millville, and Bonita "Bonnie" L. Mercer Ridley and husband, Philip, of Clay, NY; two sons, Dennis P.Fritz and wife, Lois, of Bethlehem, PA and James H. Mercer and wife, Christine, of Plessis, NY, 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and a brother, Richard A. Ledyard of Wycombe, PA.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the Mill Green United Methodist Church in Millville.
Funeral Services will begin on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the Mill Green United Methodist Church in with Rev. Robert Strozyk, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in Lime Ridge. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Neff family.
