Allen Daniel Baylor

Allen Daniel Baylor, age 80, of Mainville, died unexpectedly on Sunday afternoon, October 6, 2013 at his home in Main Township. Allen was a resident of Columbia County his entire life. Allen was born on Wednesday, March 1, 1933 in Main Township, a son of the late Daniel and Frances (Fetterolf) Baylor. In 1951, Allen completed his education as a graduate of the former Beaver High School. Following his education, Allen enlisted with the United States Army where he served his country faithfully during a time of peace. He married the former Gloria Lesnefsky on August 27, 1955. Allen dedicated his entire life to farming and working on their farm in Main Township as a Dairyman and worked for Select Sire Power, Inc. as an Artificial Inseminator. He also supported his family as a self-employed truck driver for many years while still continuing with farming. Allen was a member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Mainville, a member of the Washington Lodge #265 F&AM, the Caldwell Consistory, and the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau. He was also a former Bloomsburg Area School District Board Member, a board member of the Farmer’s Dairy Co-Op in Hazleton, and also served as a Main Township Supervisor. Allen loved spending his time furthering his talent as a Blue Grass Musician, and was a member of the “Old Time Country Boys” blue grass group as an accomplished mandolin and guitar player. Allen will be remembered as someone who always gave of himself to his community and was also a man of strong faith. In addition to his parents, Allen was preceded in death by a twin brother, Melvin Baylor on January 3, 1998. Surviving is his beloved wife of 58 years, Gloria (Lesnefsky) Baylor; two daughters: Dr. Kathy Baylor-Giorgio and husband, Domenic, of Bloomsburg; and Karen Baylor of Kulpmont; a son: Dennis W. Baylor of Bloomsburg; a grandson: Matthew A. Baylor; and three sisters: Joyce Comstock, Elsie Buehler and Linda Adler and husband, John, all of Bloomsburg At the request of the family, funeral services to celebrate Allen’s life will be held privately for the family, but a thought is left in remembrance of Allen’s strong faith: “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” II Timothy 2:15
