William Ellis Beyer, age 94, died Friday, November 14, 2008 at Bloomsburg Health Care where he had resided since February e, 2003. Prior to moving to Bloomsburg Health Care he lived at 2733 Riverview Ave., Espy. William was born May 28, 1914 in Danville, the son of the late William S. and Wilhemina (Morgan) Beyer. He attended Bloomsburg High School. During World War II he served with the U.S. Army in the Panama Canal Zone. He was employed by Bloomsburg Carpet Industries where he retired in 1986. Formerly he had been employed at Dillon Floral Co., Bloomsburg for many years. William was a member of Bloomsburg Moose Lodge #623, American Legion Post #273; was a life member of Espy Fire Co., was a member of Espy Fireman's Relief, a life member of the former Rescue Fire Co. and a life member of Bloomsburg Fireman's Relief. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma M. (Fenkner) Beyer, July 14, 1995 and by three sisters: Dorthea Beyer in infancy, Naomi Hartsorn and Vera Newhart. Survivors include his sister: Ruth Wagner, Berrien Center, Michigan, formerly of Millville; numerous nieces and nephews; a cousin; step-daughter: Anna Mae Anderson and her husband, Emil, Danville; two step-grandchildren; 4 step-great-grandchildren and five step-great-great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be announced at a later date by Allen Funeral Home, 745 Market at Eighth St., Bloomsburg.
