Shirley J. Beaver, age 82, of Bear Gap Road, Elysburg, died on Monday, May 10, 2010 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Shirley had been a resident of the Fisherdale area for many years. She had been a resident of Bloomsburg Health Care Center for several years. Shirley was born on Monday, October 10, 1927 in Sunbury, the daughter of the late Thomas W. and Emily A. (Zimmerman) Jordan. She was a 1947 graduate of the Bloomsburg High School. Shirley was most recently employed by Paper Magic Industries until her retirement in 1980. She was previously employed by Hanover Brand Foods, and many silk mills and restaurants throughout the Susquehanna Valley. She was a member of Fisherdale United Brethren Church where she had been a member of the Sunshine Pals and the Fisherdale Ladies Auxiliary. Shirley was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Claude O. Beaver on May 18, 2009 and by a daughter, Kathryn Kemberling in August, 2005. Survivors include a son Claude D. Beaver and his wife, Karen, of Blandon, PA; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She raised several foster children. Funeral services will be on Friday, May 14 at 11:00 a.m. at the Allen Funeral Home located at 745 Market at Eighth Street of Bloomsburg with Rev. Darwin Goshorn, Orangeville United Methodist Church officiating. Graveside services will be in Elan Memorial Park in Bloomsburg.
