Obituary

Robert Russell Nock , age 69, of Bloomsburg, succumbed to Agent Orange exposure on Easter Sunday, March 27, 2016, a patient of the Columbia Montour Hospice at Maria Hall in Danville. Robert was a resident of his home in Bloomsburg for over 28 years.
Robert was born on Monday, February 24, 1947 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a son of the late George W. Nock II and Winifred C. (Everingham) Nock.
Robert graduated from the Christopher Dock Mennonite School in 1965. Robert received his undergraduate degree from Widener University, and a Master's Degree from Drexel University.
While serving in the US Army during the Vietnam War, Robert was a cryptographer and photographer. During his early years he was a computer contractor and then became owner and operator of ie Information Enterprises.
On November 21, 1987, Robert married his wife, Dr. Betsy J.Hancock formerly of Ann Arbor, MI. Robert was a faithful member of the St. Paul's Episcopal Church, where he served multiple terms on the Church Vestry, was a Sunday School teacher, Lay Reader and was known for his chili at church gatherings.
Robert loved photography, he hiked most of the Appalachian Trail, he was active with Boy Scouting, and was a volunteer cook for AGAPE.
In addition to his parents, Robert was also preceded by son, Philip Nicklaus Nock and a brother, George W. Nock, III.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Dr. Betsy J.Hancock of Bloomsburg; a son, Eric James Nock of Bloomsburg, and a sister, Barbara Mowery and husband, Joseph, of York, PA.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, March 30, from 5 to 7 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 735 Market at Eighth St., Bloomsburg.
A Requiem Eucharist will be celebrated on Thursday, March 31, at 2 pm at St. Paul Episcopal Church, Main at Iron St., Bloomsburg with his pastor, Rev. Howell Sasser, celebrant. A combined VFW and American Legion group will convey military honors immediately after the Requiem Eucharist at St. Paul Church.
Private Graveside committal services will be held on Friday. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Nock family.
