Obituary

Robert L. McEwen, age 78, 737 E. Fifth St., Bloomsburg, died Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at his residence. Prior to moving to his Fifth Street residence three and a half years ago, he resided on E. Fourth Street for thirty-eight years. He had been in ill health for the past three years.
Robert was born September 28, 1931 in Williamsport, the son of the late Carl Jack and Mary (McWilliams) McEwen. He graduated from Sonestown High School in 1949. During the Korean War Robert served with the United States Marine Corp. Prior to his retirement in 1991, Robert was employed for over thirty years by Bloomsburg University as Foreman of the Painting Department.
Robert was a member of St. Columba Catholic Parish, Bloomsburg. He was a member of Bloomsburg Elks Lodge #436, Bloomsburg Moose Lodge #623 and Bloomsburg American Legion Post #273.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Dorothy (Eisenhauer) McEwen who he married August 2, 1952; a sister: Jean Wilt and her husband, Howard, Williamsport and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded by a sister: Clara Kyttle, June 14, 2008.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, October 26 at 10 a.m. from St. Columba Catholic Church, Third and Iron Streets, Bloomsburg with Rev. Paul R. Fisher and Rev. Patrick A. Devine as co-celebrants. Friends will be received Sunday, October 25 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, 745 Market at Eighth St., Bloomsburg. There will be a Wake Service at the funeral home Sunday at 8 p.m. Burial will be in New Rosemont Cemetery, Bloomsburg.
