Richard R."Cell Man" Dworsak, age 66, of Bloomsburg and formerly of Millville, died on Friday evening, April 8, 2016 , under the care of Geisinger Columbia Montour Hospice at Maria Hall, Danville. Richard was a resident of Bloomsburg for over 19 years.
Richard was born on Thursday, April 14, 1949 in Tyrone, PA, a son of Jane (Kustanbauder) Burtner of Brady TX and the late Richard R. Dworsak. Throughout his younger years, Richard attended and later graduated from the Millville High School. Following graduation he served his country and was honorably discharged from the United States Army.
Richard enjoyed a local music career as a keyboardist and vocalist. For many years, he played with a local band, Pendulum, and also traveled across the United States with the Rick and Joey Show.
For many years Richard co owned with his brother, Robert, the Gulf Station in Millville. Most recently he was employed by Tel Us Communications at the Scott Township store along Columbia Blvd. Prior he was employed the PenSel Communications of Bloomsburg and R.F. Communications of Catawissa. Also he had been employed by B96 Radio of Benton and for many years at WHTO 103.9 of Williamsport.
On November 6, 1993, Richard married his loving wife, Lana (Crawford) Dworsak of Watsontown.
Richard was a member of the Mill Green United Methodist Church, Millville . He was also a member of the Bloomsburg Elks Lodge #436 and the Valley of Bloomsburg American Legion Post
#273. Richard enjoyed spending his time playing golf at Arnolds Golf Course in Mifflinville. He was an automobile enthusiast and loved his family pets.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his beloved wife of 22 years, Lana of Bloomsburg, his step father, Rev. Roger Q. Burtner of Brady, TX, two brothers, Robert R. Dworsak and wife, Melanie of Bloomsburg, PA, and George Dworsak of Brady, TX and a sister, Christine Farmer and husband, Cody, of Fredonia, Tx.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday April 11, from 5 to 7 at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 745 Market at Eighth St. Bloomsburg where an Elks Memorial Service will be held at 5 pm.
Funeral Services will begin at 10 am on Tuesday, at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. with Rev. Robert Strozyk, pastor of Mill Green United Methodist Church, Millville, officiating. A combined group of American Legion and VFW members will present Military Honors following the funeral service. Committal services will be private at the convenience of the family.
