Obituary

Mildred Ann Conrad, age 57, of Gotschal Road, Danville, died Friday March 4, 2011, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. She was a resident of her home in Danville for over 23 years.
Mildred was born on Thursday, October 1, 1953 in Hazleton, a daughter of Theresa Scatton Torsella, of Hazleton and the late John Torsella. She was a member of the 1971 Graduating Class of the Hazleton High School, Lancaster General Hospital School of Nursing R.N. 1974 and also a 1979 Graduate of Cornell University with a degree as a Neonatal Clinician. For over 33 years, she was employed by Geisinger Medical Center as a Nurse Practitioner. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Bloomsburg, and was a Confirmation and Sunday School Teacher, and was on of the co-ordinators of the LOGOS Youth Ministry. She was a former Board of Director Member for the Danville Child Development Center, a former Girl Scout Leader, a Committee Member for Boy Scout Troop #47 and also Crew #47 both of Danville and also a Webelos Den Leader for Cub Scout Pack #47 of Danville. She received the District Award of Merit from the Columbia Montour Boy Scout Council in 2001 and was also a member of Fur & Feather Eating Fox Patrol, where she earned her Wood Badge Beads.
In addition to her mother, Mildred is survived by her beloved husband of 25 years, John W. Conrad, having been married on October 26, 1985; a daughter: Sarah E. Conrad of Danville; a son: Sr. Airman Andrew J. Conrad, serving with the U.S. Air Force and currently stationed at Tinker A.F.B. in OK; three sisters: Mary Theresa Dougherty and her husband, Joseph, of Hazleton; Marguerite Ostrand and her husband, Craig, of Sturgeon Bay, WI; and Joni Ann Torsella of Cincinnati, OH. Mildred also enjoyed and loved her two dogs: Cassie and Costly.
Friends will be received on Monday evening, March 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. from the First Presbyterian Church, 345 Market Street in Bloomsburg.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 8 at 2 p.m. from the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Stephen L. Cureton, officiating. Graveside Services will be held in Pine Hill Cemetery, Shickshinny. Services are under the direction of the Allen Funeral Home, 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg.
