Martha E. Hoglund, age 90, a resident of 1017 Fair Street, Mifflinville for 39 years, died Friday, December 4, at the Bloomsburg Hospital after being admitted on Thursday. She was the widow of the late Roy E. Hoglund who died on November 25, 2008.
Martha was born on Wednesday, May 21, 1919 in Trenton, New Jersey, the daughter of the late George and Sarah (Evans) Vial. She was a wonderful homemaker to her family throughout her life.
She was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church, Mifflinville, a member of the Grace Henry Bible Class, and a Neighborhood Chair Lady for the local Girl Scouts.
Martha is survived by a daughter: Diane E. Bachinger and her husband, John, Bloomsburg; a son: Roy E. Hoglund II and his wife, Dorothy, Richland, PA; four grandsons: David Hoglund, Robert Hoglund, Jeffrey Bachinger, and James Bachinger; two great-grandsons: Bryce Hoglund and Branson Hoglund, and a sister: Ruth Davidson, Mentor, OH.
Including her husband, Martha is preceded by three siblings: George Evans Vial, Evelyn Everett, and Mildred Stoky.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at 11 a.m. from the St. John's Lutheran Church, on the corner of 5th and Race Streets, Mifflinville with her pastor, the Rev. Joshua L. Reinsburrow officiating. Burial will be held in Elan Memorial Park in Lime Ridge. Friends will be received at 10 a.m. on Tuesday prior to services at the church.
