Marlin R. Wagner, age 76, of Bloomsburg, died on Thursday afternoon, December 25, 2014 surrounded by his family, a resident of Orangeville Health and Rehabilitation Center in Orangeville.
Marlin was born on Tuesday, June 26, 1938 in Nescopeck, a son of the late John A. and Eva (Keller) Wagner. Throughout his younger years, Marlin attended the Nescopeck area schools and graduated in 1956 from the Nescopeck High School. Marlin also attended Kutztown State Teacher's College majoring in Art. On December 16, 1967, Marlin married his beloved wife the former Mary Lou Miles. For 23 years, Marlin was employed by the Press Enterprise as a Photo Journalist covering many major publications. Most recently, he was self-employed as a free lance and art photographer throughout the Susquehanna Valley. Marlin was also a member of the St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Bloomsburg for over 46 years. In addition to spending his time with his wife and daughters, Marlin was also a founding member of Artspace Gallery in Bloomsburg, the North Mountain Art League, the River Poets, and an affiliate artist with the Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble. Marlin was also a member of the Art Association of Harrisburg, and received the Rose Roy Award at the Art of the State juried show in Harrisburg.
In addition to his parents, Marlin was preceded in death by a brother: Robert E. Wagner.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 47 years, Mary Lou Wagner, of Bloomsburg; two daughters: Julia Grover and husband, Jeffrey, of Millis, MA; and Jana Wagner of Medway, MA; a grand-dog: Toby: a brother: J. Richard Wagner and wife, Jean, of Kutztown, PA; four nephews: Paul Wagner and wife, Kathy, of Whitehouse, NJ; Mark Wagner and wife, Karen, of Danvers, MA; Matthew Wagner and wife, Deb, of Plymouth, MI; and James Wagner and wife, Tess, of Bethlehem, PA.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 16 at 11 a.m. from the St. Mathew Lutheran Church, 123 Market Street in Bloomsburg with his pastor, Rev. Dr. Joel L. Zeiders and family friend, Rev. Ann Keeler Evans, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in the Old Rosemont Cemetery in Bloomsburg.
