Marie E. Landon, age 87, of Bloomsburg, died on Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at home surrounded by her family and under the care of Geisinger Columbia Montour Hospice.
Marie was born on Sunday, November 10, 1929, in Dearborn, Michigan, a daughter of the late John and Abigail (Huffmaster) Lonser. Marie attended and later graduated from the Pittston Area High School in 1948. Marie expanded her education by attending Wilkes Barre General Hospital School of Nursing, and became a Registered Nurse in 1952.
On August 30, 1952, Marie married her loving husband, Jay W. Landon, who died October 22, 2016.
Marie was a private duty Registered Nurse and had also been employed by Geisinger Medical Center and The Bloomsburg Hospital. Marie was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church. Prior, she served on the Church Council, taught Sunday School, and was active with the Grief Ministry at St. Matthew Lutheran Church.
Marie enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was accomplished in knitting and crocheting. She enjoyed Bible studies, playing games (especially cards, Bunco, and Bingo), traveling to Michigan and the beach. Marie volunteered with Boy Scouts and other community activities.
In addition to her parents and husband, Marie was also preceded in death by four siblings: Ethel Peruski, Donald Lonser, Jean Czewski, and Lucille Lonser.
Survivors include four children: James (Judith Bendersky) Landon of Tumwater, WA; Judy (Frank) Ohl of Orangeville; Lynn (Robert) Cromley of Bloomsburg; and Robert (Jessica) Landon of Springfield, VA. She is also survived by seven grandsons: Eric Landon, Brian Landon, Aaron (Fiancée Anh Tran) Ohl, Jesse (Fiancée Crystal Zhao) Cromley, Cory Ohl, Alexander Cromley, and Joseph Landon.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the St. Luke Lutheran Church, 7 St. Luke's Way, Bloomsburg.
Funeral Services will begin 11:00 a.m. at St. Luke Lutheran Church with her pastor, Rev. John Fenton, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow at the New Rosemont Cemetery, Bloomsburg. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Landon family.
