Lester "Pete" R. Cole

Lester "Pete" R. Cole, age 89, of Bloomsburg, died on Thursday, December 29, 2016, a patient of the Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital. Lester was a currently a resident of the Signature Health Care at Bloomsburg since April. Lester was born on Tuesday, November 22, 1927 in Shade Gap, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Fransico and Genevieve (McMath) Cole. On December 31, 1954, Lester married his loving wife, Violet R. Green, of Bloomsburg. For over 45 years, Lester was employed by Magee AutoFab until his retirement in 1997. Lester was a former member of the Bloomsburg Elks B.P.O.E. 436 and the Bloomsburg Moose L.O.O.M. #623. He was active member of the American Legion Post #273 and the Bloomsburg VFW Ft. McClure Post #804. Lester always enjoyed cheering on his favorite teams of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pittsburgh Pirates and watching the NASCAR races. Lester also enjoyed spending time outdoor fishing and camping, but most of all, Lester's greatest joy in his life was his family. In addition to his parents, Lester was also preceded in death by a sister and two brothers. Survivors include his beloved wife 62 of years, Violet R. Cole of Bloomsburg. Also surviving is a son, Robert J. Cole of Bloomsburg, a son, Benjamin F. Cole and wife, Kay, of Bloomsburg, a son, William J. Cole and companion, Lisa Hickey, of Danville, a daughter, Bonnie S. Steimling and husband, Anthony, of Sunbury, a daughter, Barbara R. Unger and husband, Korey, of Bloomsburg, a grandson, Steven M. Confer of Bloomsburg, a grandson, Hayden R. Steimling of Bloomsburg, a granddaughter, Malina R. Unger of Bloomsburg, and also a brother, Robert Johnson of Bloomsburg, A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, January 3rd from 1 to 2 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth St. in Bloomsburg. Funeral Services will also begin on Tuesday, January 3rd at 2 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., in Bloomsburg with Monsignor Robert E. Lawrence, officiating. Full Military Honors will be accorded by a combined VFW/American Legion Group. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Cole family. Memorial contributions in Lester's name are suggested to local SPCA, 2801 Bloom Rd., Danville and the Columbia-Montour Aging Office, 702 Sawmill Rd. Bloomsburg.
