Obituary

Lee D. Walter, age 91, of Glenn Avenue, Bloomsburg, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, October 31, 2010. He was cared for and nurtured with much love and compassion by the staff of Columbia Montour Home Hospice at Maria Hall in Danville.
Lee was born on Saturday, February 1, 1919, in Bloomsburg, a son of the late Werley and Bertha Markel Walter. He was a member of the 1937 graduating class of Bloomsburg High School. Lee served with the United States Navy during World War II as a Motor Machinist's Mate, Second Class in the Asiatic/Pacific Theater. Lee was a lifelong member of the Bloomsburg Christian Church and loved the Lord with all his heart, mind and soul. He worked at Magee Carpet Company and most recently was self-employed operating his own waste oil business. He loved his family and was always there for them.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Perina Nespoli, who passed in September 8, 2000; a brother: Clyde Walters, and a sister: Betty Lowe.
Survivors include two daughters: Patricia Stryker and her husband, John, of Bloomsburg; and Linda Baker, and her husband, Ralph, of Williamsport, MD; four granddaughters: Cindee Moyer and her husband, Zell, of Berwick; Tracy Knorr and her husband, Bill, of Berwick; Nichole Sandri, and her husband, Paul, of Paxinos; and Jennifer Cecco, and her husband, Scott, of Elysburg; two grandsons: Mark Baker and his wife, Joanne, of Royal, VA; and Matt Baker and his wife, Gina, of Williamsport, MD; eight great-granddaughters: Kristen and Kara Moyer, Courtney Baker, Julie Ann and Samantha Baker, Madison Sandri, Lola and Eva Cecco; four great-grandsons: Jesse and Jared Knorr, Eric Baker, and Nicholas Sandri; and a sister: June Pennypacker and her husband, Harold, of Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 6 at 10 a.m. from the Bloomsburg Christian Church, 107 Deussen Drive, Bloomsburg with Lead Minister, Eric Miller officiating. Graveside services will be held in St. James Cemetery.
Friends will be received on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. The Walter family is being assisted by the Allen Funeral Home of 745 Market and Eighth Street in Bloomsburg.
