Obituary

Jean R. Acornley, age 87, of Bloomsburg, died on Thursday, October 26, 2017, after a short illness. She was a resident of Bloomsburg for over 60 years.
Jean was born on Tuesday, July 1, 1930 in Roaring Creek Twp., a daughter of the late Melvin and Ethel (Strausser) Rarig. Throughout her younger years, Jean attended the Locust Twp. schools, and later graduated from the Locust Twp. High School in 1948. On August 7, 1948, Jean married her loving husband, Doyle formerly of Orange Twp. who preceded her in death on October 11, 2013. For many years, Jean was employed by Milco Industries as a Sewing Machine Operator until her retirement in 1995. Jean was a member of the Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ, where she was a member of the Women in Mission. Jean enjoyed spending her time as a church volunteer, was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles.
In addition to her parents and husband Jean was also preceded by two sisters, Irene Kashner and Lillian Rarig and two brothers Harold Rarig and Robert Rarig.
Survivors include her daughter, Mona L. (Scott) Bartholomew of Millville, granddaughters, Taryn (Aaron) Evans of Scottsville, VA, Corey (William) Schaller of Millville, grandson, Brett Bartholomew (companion Porsche Butters) of Millville, three great granddaughters, Farah Evans, Audrey and Molly Schaller, two great grandsons, Flynn Evans and Gannon Bartholomew, and one brother Neil (Geraldine) Rarig.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, November 3, 2017 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ, 260 East 7th Street, Bloomsburg.
Funeral Services will begin on Friday, November 3, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ with Pastor Steven C. Hummel, officiating. Private committal services will be held at the convenience of the family. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Acornley family.
