Obituary

James L. Broyan, age 76 of Mainville Drive, Bloomsburg, died on Thursday evening, December 27, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family.

James was born on Tuesday, April 7, 1936 in Drums, a son of the late Frank and Mary (Mylet) Broyan, Jr. During his younger years, James attended the Brown Grove one room schoolhouse and graduated from West Hazleton High School. Following his education, James enlisted with the United States Army. Throughout most of his working life, James was employed by Heinz Pet Products and also formerly the Campbell's Soup Co. He was a member of the Mifflinville United Methodist Church. James will always be remembered for his strong work ethic, witty humor and his unique ability to fix anything he came across. His family will also remember his love of farming, his passion for gardening and woodworking. He was always an excellent role model on how to live a meaningful life.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded by six siblings: Sophie Hons, Dolores Krzywicki, Verna Visintainer, Alberta Rossi, Mary Ganc and Robert Broyan.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Nancy L. (Robbins), having celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on October 6th. Also surviving are his two sons: James L. Broyan, Jr. and wife, Nancy, of Dickinson, TX; and Paul O. Broyan and wife, Shelly, of Mifflinville; two daughters: Melanie A. Hafner and husband, Gregory, of Columbia, SC; and Stephanie M. Iseman and husband, Jeff, of Danville; eight grandchildren: Tavia Prouhet, Zachary Clark, Theresa Hafner, Elizabeth Hafner, Katherine Hafner, Nicholas Hafner, Mikey Broyan and Tommy Broyan; two great-grandchildren: Charlie and Olivia Prouhet; as well as six siblings: Emily Paltjon of Zenith; Beatrice Ganc of Drums; Elmira Correll of Dorrance; Marcella Broyan of Drums; Frank Broyan III of Yardley; and Eugene Broyan of Dorrance.

A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, January 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 3 at 11 a.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. in Bloomsburg with his niece, Rev. Rebecca Broyan, officiating. Graveside services follow immediately in the New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy.
