Obituary

Isabel P. Tarr, age 71, a resident of Bloomsburg her entire life, died suddenly on Sunday evening, February 24, 2013 at her home of over 60 years.
Isabel was born on Saturday, February 14, 1942 in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late Thomas and Rose Ella (Brown) Tarr. She was a member of the 1959 Graduating Class of the Bloomsburg High School. For many years, Isabel was employed by the former Sunshine Laundry Co. in Bloomsburg, and was also employed by the former Haddon Craftsmen Company. Most recently, she was employed by RR Donnelley until her retirement. She was a very active member of the Bloomsburg University Community Task Force on Racial Equality.
On January 20th 2013, the Town of Bloomsburg presented Isabel a Certificate Citation of honoring her service and significant contributions to the Town and Bloomsburg University. During this honor, her role as a member of the joint effort to insure equitable treatment of all citizens during her 20 years of service with the Bloomsburg University Task Force on Racial Equity was recognized.
In addition to her parents, Isabel was also predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth (Tarr) Demby on October 6, 2009. Isabel was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Survivors include a brother-in-law: John E. Demby, Sr., of Westampton, NJ; a niece: Jennifer E. Lawson and husband, James, of Woodbury, NJ; two nephews: John E. Demby, Jr. of Collingswood, NJ, and James E. Demby also of Westampton, NJ; two great-nieces: Jade and Jamira; and a host of very close and special cousins.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday evening, March 1 from 5 to 7 p.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg. Friends will also be received on Saturday morning, March 2 from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ, 260 E. 7th St, Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will begin on Saturday, March 2 at 11 a.m. from Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ with Rev. Stephen D. Engelhardt, officiating. Gravesides services will immediately follow in the New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy.
