Eugene W. Pahls, age 77, of West 3rd Street in Bloomsburg, died on Monday, July 18, 2011 a patient of Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Prior to living on 3rd Street, he and his wife resided at their home on Main Street in Bloomsburg for over 45 years. Eugene had been failing in health for the past several years.
Eugene was born on Monday, August 6, 1934 in Lancaster County, PA a son of the late William and Gertrude (Zimmerman) Pahls. He was a graduate of the Mahanoy City High School and also graduated from Penn State University with a Drafting and Engineering Degree. He also served in the United States Coast Guard. For over 30 years, Eugene was employed by Kennedy Van Saun, Corp. in Danville, until his retirement in 1999.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley (Brill) Pahls on April 22, 2003.
Survivors include a daughter: Judy E. Pahls of East Norriton, PA; a son: Christian E. Pahls of Cobleskill, NY; two granddaughters and two great-grandchildren; and also a close companion of the past four years: Delores Betz of Mount Carmel; a twin brother: Donald Pahls of Allentown; two brothers: George Pahls of Atlanta, Georgia and Justin Pahls of Florida.
A Visitation for friends and family will begin on Thursday, July 21 from 12 Noon to 1 p.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg.
Funeral Services will begin on Thursday, July 21 at 1 p.m. from the funeral home with Rev. Alan Langelli, of Grace Independent Chapel in Shamokin, officiating. Graveside Services will be held in the German Protestant Cemetery, Mahanoy City.
