Obituary

Elmer C. Brigham, age 94,of Northumberland, died Saturday, November 6, 2010 with his wife of 69 years, Sarah Elizabeth (Washburn) Brigham at his side.
Elmer was born December 27, 1915 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the son of the late Herbert M. W. and Maude (McCurda) Brigham. He was a graduate of Latin High School and attended Eastern Nazarene College. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and attained the rank of Radarman third class. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene for many years and later a member of the United Methodist Church. He served on the boards of Rochester Youth for Christ, Child Evangelism, his church and Eastern Nazarene College.
Elmer and Sarah raised their family in the Rochester, New York area. For many years he maintained a summer home in Penn Yan, New York where his children and grandchildren have gathered numerous times over the years. He traveled throughout western New York State representing a number of house ware companies for many years, retiring in 1978. He and Sarah retired to Venice, Florida where they lived for about twenty years before moving to Easton, Maryland and later to Northumberland.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his daughter: Reverend Marjorie B. Fisk (Dr. David E. Fisk), Danville and two sons: David Elmer Brigham (Karen), Albuquerque, NM and Dr. Stephen Charles Brigham (Suzanne), St. Michaels, Maryland. He will also be fondly remembered by his seven grandsons, two granddaughters and thirteen great-grandchildren; sisters: Barbara Johnson (Roland), Maine; Muriel MacDonald, Connecticut; Ruth Kelly, Florida and Helen Hawthorne (Al), Arizona. He was preceded in death by his daughter: Barbara Elizabeth Howard.; a brother: Herbert Brigham and sisters: May McNeil and Myrtle Brigham.
A Memorial Service with full military honors will be held Monday, November 15, 2010 at 11 A.M. from Fairview Church of the Nazarene, 345 Fairview Road, Turbotville, Pennsylvania 17772, with his daughter, Rev. Marjorie B. Fisk, pastor of the church officiating. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until the time of service. The Brigham family is being assisted by the Allen Funeral Home of 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg.
