Doris J. Heckert, age 86 of Danville, died on Monday, January 28, 2013 a resident of Bloomsburg Health Care since 2008. She was a resident of her home in Danville for over 50 years and also a prior resident of the Bloomsburg and Herndon Area.
Doris was born on Friday, February 26, 1926 in Bloomsburg, the only child of the late Robert W. and Kathryn (Unger) Patterson. She was a member of the 1944 Graduating Class of the Bloomsburg High School. For over 29 years, she was employed as a Secretary for TRW Plant in Harrisburg until retiring in 1985. She was a life-member of the American Legion Post #504 of Herndon. Doris always had a fond love for dogs, and loved spending time with her dog, "Barny" whom was always a loyal companion.
On February 16, 1994, Doris was preceded by her beloved husband of 37 years, the late A. Frank Heckert.
Survivors include a son: James W. Watts and wife, Priscilla, of Bloomsburg; a step-son: Ross Heckert of Herndon; two granddaughters and three great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday afternoon, January 31 from 2 to 3 p.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will also begin on Thursday, January 31 at 3 p.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. with Eric Miller, lead minister, officiating.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, February 1 at 10 a.m. in the Zion Stone Valley Church Cemetery in Dalmatia. A procession to the cemetery will form at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., Bloomsburg on Friday, February 1 at 9 a.m.
