Dawnna Jean Thomas, age 79, a 45 year resident of Boone Road, Bloomsburg, died on Monday, January 30, 2012 in the Bloomsburg Health Care Center where she had resided since July of 2010.
Dawnna was born on Friday, September 30, 1932 in Danville, a daughter of the late Alfred and Gertrude (Stephen) Cooper. She attended the Danville Area Schools. She was raised in Riverside and attended the Buckhorn United Methodist Church.
Dawnna worked at many silk mills throughout the Susquehanna Area. She retired from Borden Wise in 2000 after 10 years of employment. For a brief time she also worked at Wal-Mart in 2008.
Dawnna loved to garden and spending time with her family and pets. She enjoyed talking with anyone and everyone. She also loved Tom Jones music and Ryan Pelton.
On December 24, 1950, she married Howard Edmund Thomas who passed on August 25, 1984.
Survivors include a daughter: Shirley J. Sandel of Wapwallopen, four sons: Robert F. Thomas and wife, Charlotte, of Mainville; John M. Thomas and wife, Valerie, of Washingtonville; William E. Thomas and wife, Rosemary, of Berwick; and Richard A. Thomas and wife, Renee, of Benton; 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 4 step-grandchildren; and 9 siblings: Marvin Cooper, Jack Cooper, Sandra Troxell, France Cooper, David Cooper, Joseph Cooper, Blaine Cooper and twins: Joan Steinburg and June Krajewski.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, February 1 from 6 to 8 p.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 745 Market at Eighth St., Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 2, at 10 a.m., from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. with Rev. Thomas J. Fetterolf officiating.
