Carroll B. Bowman, age 81, of Main Street in Lightstreet, died on Tuesday morning, August 30, 2011 at his home surrounded by family. He was a resident of Lightstreet for over 59 years.
Carroll was born on Monday, December 16, 1929 in Mt. Pleasant Township, a son of the late Henry and Melva (Hippenstiel) Bowman. Throughout his earlier years, he attended the Mt. Pleasant Schools. For over 30 years, he worked full time in the Sales Department of Statewide Furniture, and only recently worked part-time until March of 2011. He was a member of the Oriental Lodge #460 F&AM in Orangeville, the Caldwell Consistory in Bloomsburg; the Irem Temple Shrine in Wilkes-Barre, and was also a life-member of the Lightstreet Community Fire Company.
In addition to his parents, Carroll was preceded by four siblings: John B. Bowman, Glenn B. Bowman, Dean B. Bowman and Helen Albeck.
Carroll is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Darl (Cain) Bowman; three daughters: Carol Fenstermacher and husband, Tim, of Bloomsburg; Darlene Dewalt and husband, Jay, of Bloomsburg; and Amy Braverman and husband, Richard, of Lancaster; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and four siblings: Phyllis Pugh of Bloomsburg, Joyce Johnson of Orangeville, Doyle Bowman and wife, Irene, of Bloomsburg; and Margaret Lemon and husband, Earl, of Orangeville.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 2 at 7 p.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg. Friends will be received on Friday from 6 p.m. until the time of service. Private Graveside Services will be held in Élan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge. Memorial Contributions in Carroll's name are suggested to: Lightstreet Community Fire Co., 1630 Monroe Ave., Bloomsburg.
