Bonnie L. Berger, age 69, of Shangrila Drive, Bloomsburg, died on Thursday, September 9, 2010 surrounded by her family. She was a resident of her home on Shangrila Drive for the past six years and formerly of Fernville. Bonnie had been failing in health during the past year.
Bonnie was born on Friday, June 6, 1941 in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late Reber and Elva Rambo Edwards. She was a member of the 1959 Graduating Class of Bloomsburg High School. For most of her working career, she was employed by Bloomsburg University for over 21 years until her retirement in 2001.
Bonnie enjoyed spending time in Delaware fishing and crabbing. She loved crafts, cooking for family and friends, and collecting Byers' Choice Carolers. "Momo's" greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four sisters: Beverly Edwards, Joyce Shaffer, Joan Carey and Charlotte Steinmetz.
Bonnie is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, married on January 30, 1960, John D. Berger II; a daughter: Karen S. Kovach and her husband, Michael, of Danville; a son John D. Berger III and his companion, Marlene Butters, of Bloomsburg; five grandchildren: Alicia H. Kovach, Madison G. Kovach, Jennifer Butters, Porsche Butters and John D. Berger IV; a brother: Reber "Buddy" Edwards and his wife, Ethel, of Sunbury; a step-sister: Mary Ruth Hauck and her husband, Glen, of Bloomsburg; and a step-brother: Wilbur Stadler and his wife, Gloria, of Bloomsburg.
Friends will be received on Monday, September 13 from 6 to 8 p.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg.
Funeral Services will begin on Monday evening at 8 p.m. from the Allen Funeral Home with Rev. R. Christian Dunlap, Spiritual Care Counselor of Columbia Montour Home Hospice, officiating.
