Obituary

Barbara L. (Mengine) Cromley, age 79, of Bloomsburg, passed into her heavenly home on Saturday evening, September 14, 2013 with her family by her side and under the care of Columbia Montour Home Hospice at Maria Hall, Danville.
Barb was born on Sunday, December 3, 1933 in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late John and Carolyn (Long) Mengine. Barb spent a happy childhood growing up in Fernville. A self proclaimed "Tomboy", Barb fondly recalled her days swimming in the creek and training her beloved border collie. Barb completed her education as a member of the 1951 graduating class of the Bloomsburg High School where she marched in many parades down Main Street with the color guard in the high school band. In 1954, Barb married her loving husband, Robert E. Cromley. In her earlier years, she worked at various jobs for the former Bloomsburg Mills, Milco and Magee Carpet Co. Barb dedicated her life to raising her children and caring for her family.
Barb had a passion for reading, old movies and watching television shows. Barb was formerly a resident of her home on Anthony Avenue in Bloomsburg, and most recently of Westminster Place apartments, where she made many new friends and enjoyed social activities. She was devoted member of the St. Luke Lutheran Church in Bloomsburg. Barb was a gentle spirit who loved to laugh, and will be greatly missed by her best friend, Marie Landon and family. She will be remembered with fondness of her kindness towards two and four-legged friends. Those that knew her will hold her in their hearts forever.
On May 22, 2004, Barb was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Robert E. Cromley. She was also preceded by a sister: Helen Billig in 1967 and a brother-in-law: Mark Billig in 1976.
Survivors include a daughter: Tammy Robbins and husband, Andy, of Millville; two sons: Robert J. Cromley and wife, Lynn, of Bloomsburg and James D. Cromley and wife, Margaret, of Catawissa; and four grandchildren: Jai Robbins and wife, Marie; Jason Robbins and girlfriend, Ali; and Jesse and Alex Cromley; a niece: Lana Billig; three nephews: Mike Billig, John Billig and Steve Billig and his wife, Judy; and a sister-in-law: Sally Long and her children, Mike and Tammy.

Funeral services will also begin on Wednesday, September 18 at 11 a.m. from the St. Luke Lutheran Church, Bloomsburg with her pastor, Rev. Jeffrey G. Bohan, officiating. The Cromley family is being assisted by the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg.
