Arnold Errol Gross, age 76, of Bloomsburg, died on Wednesday evening, August 7, 2013 after being admitted to the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Arnold has also been a recent resident of Balanced Care at Bloomsburg.
Arnold was born on Tuesday, February 9, 1937 in Tomhicken, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Millard and Bertha (Jones) Gross. In 1955, Arnold graduated from the Coughlin High School, and later continued his education at the Atlantic Community College following his time of service. On November 11, 1957, Arnold enlisted with the United States Air Force and served his country faithfully during the Vietnam War. Arnold served as a Master Sergeant in the Mechanical and Flight Engineering at Loring Air Force Base in Maine. Arnold retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of dedicated service and loyalty to his country. Following his time of service, Arnold was employed by the Shore Memorial Hospital in Somers Point, New Jersey as a Stationary Engineer. He was also employed by the Golden Nugget Hotel in Atlantic City. On October 1, 1983, Arnold married his beloved wife of 29 years, Gwen B. Gross. He was a member of the Bloomsburg Ft. McClure Post #804 VFW and the Bloomsburg American Legion Post #273.
Arnold was preceded in death by a sister: Lois Cromer and also by a brother: Millard Gross, Jr.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Gwen, are three children: Kathryn Gross and husband, Gary Grayshaw, of King of Prussia; Kevin Gross of York; and Kristopher Gross and wife, Jodi, of Atlantic City, NJ; two step-children: Anna Elco Campbell and husband, Scott, of King of Prussia; and Nicholas Elco of Maryland; a granddaughter: Tonya Miller of Carlisle and a grandson: Zachary Honeycutt of Fayetteville, GA; and a great-granddaughter: Makayla; as well as three siblings: Edwin Gross, Gerald Gross and Paul Gross and several nephews and nieces.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday morning, August 13 from 10 to 11 a.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will also begin on Tuesday, August 13 at 11 a.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., Bloomsburg with Rev. Susan Knorr, officiating. Graveside services with full Military Honors will be held in the Red Rock Cemetery, Cemetery, Sugar Loaf.
