Arnold E. Collier, age 93, of Bloomsburg, died on Wednesday evening, August 14, 2013 a resident of Columbia Montour Home Hospice at Maria Hall in Danville. Arnold was a resident of Bloomsburg since 1955 and also formerly a resident of the Shamokin area.
Arnold was born on Wednesday, October 8, 1919 in East Cameron Township, a son of the late Joseph C. and Macie V. (Hornberger) Collier. Throughout his younger years, Arnold received his education from the Shamokin Area Schools. For over 25 years, Arnold was employed by the former Bloomsburg Mills, Inc. as a loom repairman. Most recently, he was employed by Kawneer Company, Inc. for over 17 years. He was a faithful member of the St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Bloomsburg, and also a former member of the Bloomsburg Moose L.O.O.M #623.
On February 22, 1992, Arnold was preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 47 years, Laura J. (Lenig) Collier. Arnold was also preceded by nine siblings: Beatrice Kramer, Della Pohlig, Virginia Hepler, Clair Collier, Chester Collier, Hubert Collier, Calvin Collier, Leonard Collier, and a sister in infancy.
Survivors include two sons: Edward A. Collier and wife, Linda, of Boothwyn; and Martin E. Collier and wife, Margaret, of Duncannon; five grandchildren: David, Amy, Aaron, Chad and Abbey; four great-grandchildren: Matthew, Nathan, Quinn and Lily; as well as a sister: Betty Eby of Shamokin.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday morning, August 19 from 10 to 11 a.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will also begin on Monday morning, August 19 at 11 a.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., Bloomsburg with his pastor, Rev. Dr. Joel L. Zeiders, officiating. Graveside services where Arnold will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife will immediately follow in the New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy.
