Alice J. Poe, age 72, of East Eighth St., Bloomsburg died Sunday morning, August 14, 2011 at her home following a three year illness. She was a resident of Columbia County most of her younger life and had formerly lived in Sunbury. She returned to Bloomsburg six years ago.
Alice was born on Saturday, December 3, 1938 in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late Milden and Ellen Irene (Force) Wagner. She attended the North Center Twp. and Danville Area schools. Alice was last employed at the Selinsgrove Center, retiring in 1994 after 19 years of employment.
In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years: George D. Poe, Jr. and a daughter: Michelle Poe.
Survivors include a daughter: Christine I. Poe of Bloomsburg; two sons: Wayne A. Poe and wife, Nikki, of Bloomsburg and David M. Poe and wife, Jannet, of Sunbury; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; five sisters: Shirley Webber of Bloomsburg; Mary Lacey and husband, Daniel, of Catawissa; Anna Johnson and husband, Edgar, of Danville; Ruth Diehl of Bloomsburg; Dora Mae Eifert of Danville; and a brother: Robert Wagner and wife, Freda, of Berwick.
